About this Item
Extremely rare post war Paris publication of the Haitian. This Afro-Caribbean born in Martinique fought in the French Resistance and then became a well known commentator on French radio. He is especially remembered for his fierce battles with the casual racism of his fellow progressives in France. THIS IS THE FIRST EDITION OF HIS FIRST NOVEL - surprisingly solid considering how fragile post war paperbacks could be. The contents are PRISTINE with even some pages uncut! Hinges tight. The preface by Katherine Dunham, the famed black American dancer who loved Caribbean culture is 'icing on the cake'. A MUST HAVE for any number of collections. NO other copies for sale ANYWHERE. I can't even find it in French rare book catalogues that should have this. Seller Inventory # ABE-1544138678623
