First printing glossy turquoise background illustrated hardcover has four kites flying on the ftt cover. 2 ink numbers written on otherwise blank turquoise background front endpaper, as well as two small areas of formerly white from a paper pull, probably adhered glue from rear paste-down, now filled in with Turq. colored pencil. 3/4" x 1 2/16th identical to one on the opposing rear end paper. Also a smaller one along with a light turq. mark measuring 1" x 1/4" on foot of rep. Sounds worse than it looks, photos available, please email. Book is well illustrated in b/w and color, the 63 page text block has no finger prints or tears. Chapters includes: The Western and Japanese Attitudes to Kites, Kite History and Traditions, Representative Kites, Traditional Kite Games, Making a Japanese Kite, Balance, Guide Strings, Attaching the Tail, Sending the Kite Aloft, A Few Interesting Kite Shapes and Frames including the following kite styles: The Hirado Karakuri Kintoki, The Hata, The Kakkaku, The Rokkaku, The Machijirushi, The Tsugaru, The Tombi, The Fukusuke, The Yakko, The Fugu, and The Semi.
