1964, First Edition, Second Printing as noted on copyright page- "first published in 1964", and no later printing noted;conforms to publisher practice of 'unstated' firsts. The front endpaper has an inscription from a prior owner. His sixth novel and National Book Award winner in 1965. Dark Blue cloth boards, blindstamped author name on front and un-worn silver spine stamping. Unclipped dustjacket, with a $5.75 price, although the rest of the dj is in poor condition: the bottom part of the binding is torn and missing, there are tears on the top of the front and the back; rubbing along the outside of the back flap. Dust jacket design by Mel Williamson, with photo of Bellow on back. The story of Moses E.
