The subjects covered include Turkish methods of administration, the economic development of Bulgaria, the growth of schools and modern education, the history of the Bulgarian Press, literature and arts, the long struggle for independence waged by the Bulgarian Church against the Greek Patriarchate, the reactions of the Bulgarians themselves to the provisions made for them at the Congress of Berlin, and their return to normanl political life after five centuries of virtual national extinction.".
