First impression of the first edition of Volume II only. Undated, circa 1836. ***Please note that this volume is quite worn but complete with just one loose plate but present - this being the engraving of Mary Lester. ***A gallery of etchings consisting of 67 full-page black and white steel plate etchings engraved by various engravers, several by C. Heath (Charles Heath) with many being portraits of young ladies, a few of picturesque landscapes, a sea storm etc. with corresponding text on the following page. Text pages are numbered. Plates are unnumbered. ***Good in colour marbled boards with leather and gilt ruled and decorated spine and leather and gilt ruled corners. Decorative colour marbled front and rear endpapers and pastedowns. Small, owner's name in fine soft pencil: 'G. B. Badger, Rotherham' to top of front free endpaper. Edges of boards rubbed and worn. Corners of boards very rubbed and worn and frayed. Spine worn. Spine tight. Sporadic foxing mostly to page margins. Plates clean except the last plate which has some foxing. Each plate is protected with its own full-page, tissue guard-leaf and has a following descriptive text-page. One engraving loose without tissue guard: 'Mary Lester'. ***No title-page or any other prelims present, as called for with the second volume.
