About this Item
1897. First edition (in French). 170pp. over 30 black and white illustrations plus 6 pages of advertisements at the end of the book. This is a late 19th century guide to Montreal and the surrounding area. The book starts with a brief history of Montreal and then describes the sights, famous buildings and monuments, and other historical information. The text is in French. The book has been well used and is in fair condition with shelf wear and stains and soiling on the boards. The spine ends and corners are bumped and the cloth on the spine is damaged. A previous owner has carried out a rough repair but the cloth on the bottom half of the rear spine edge is split with the rear board only loosely held in place. The contents are in better condition with clean pages. The endpapers are browned with some staining and there is an inscription on the front free endpaper. Seller Inventory # VICanada02
