A very good copy of the presumed first hard cover edition (no explicit edition or printing statement, though dated 1907 on the title page), lacking a dust-jacket. Previous owner's address label and signature in ink atop front free endpaper, with another previous owner's bookplate pasted to the copyright page; else the text is wholly unmarked, pristine, and the red cloth binding with gilt lettering on the spine is bright and fresh in appearance, with minor wear and rubbing at the extremities of the boards. Binding is solid: no wobble whatsoever to the boards. A smallish portion of the base of the 1st (and thus the 2nd) Contents page has been neatly clipped away. A lovely copy.
