First and only original edition of this protracted poem, with extensive notes (p.155-312) yielding much historical information, and an index. Profits from the original sale in aid of "The Fund of Aid for Waste Land Cultivators". Good biography of Campbell at "Electric Scotland" - he was married to the Lady of the Keppoch MacDonalds (and see Back to Lochaber - Stuart MacDonald 1994), but his romanticism did not lend itself to sheep farming in Lochaber, and an acrimonious separation followed. He was the author of the voluminous 2 volume "A Tour from Edinburgh through various parts of North Britain" in 1802, considered his best work, though this is probably much rarer. Leather spine and corners chipped and rubbed, but a strong possibly original secure binding. No inscriptions. Some scattered spotting. vii, [i], 316 pp. Seller Inventory # 002511
