About this Item
3 vols., 8vo. With the half-titles. Original "glazed black linen flecked with white, multiply ruled in dark brown in frame and lettered in scarlet on front and spine" (Wolff); spines dulled and a bit grubby, but a good fresh copy. First edition, the second and last novel by this author, drawing on his own Quaker background and possibly his experience as a soldier - hence the "drab and scarlet" in the title. Wolff, Nineteenth Century Fiction, 2317. Eight locations in OCLC and JISC/COPAC. Seller Inventory # 14106
