Large paper edition, designed by Lewis F. White. Privately printed in a limited edition of 1499 copies in the US and the same number in Great Britain. This copy is number 532. Bound in faux leather with a black back cover and a green & black patterned front cover (see image). Believed to have been issued without dust jacket. Condition is VG+. Spine and corners are straight. Binding is sturdy, but could benefit from hinge tape on front inside cover. Pastedowns and free endpapers are discolored along borders. Pages and text block edges are lightly and uniformly age tanned, but text and illustrations remain clear and sharp. Pages, text block edges, and covers are clean and unmarked. Hardcover, original clear plastic dust wrapper missing; full faux leather dark orange cloth over boards with sienna lettering stamped on spine and front, which also has a sunbeam like pattern of lines surrounding a circle with stars and title. Sewn binding. 140 pages, with preface, and indexes of 61 translated passages of15 drawings in the back. Limited Edition, but without a number given for this copy, CONDITION: VERY GOOD, binding square and tight, pages faintly age-tanned but free of any marks, save for former owner's name and address stamp on front paste-down. Spine mildly sun-faded; boards with rubbing, corner wear, and light soiling. CONTENT: This Limited Edition, privately printed for the Sylvan Press, is the authorized edition of the original 1929 Fleurs Du Mal published by the Sophistocles Press.
