Add to basketPraha (Prague). Ceskoslovensky Spisovatel. 1960. First Printing. Extremely scarce in this impression. The book has been reprinted several times since this. Medium 8vo 6.125 x 9.25 (15.6 x 23.5cm). Textured linen boards with brown vignette to upper board and black titles to the spine. Small mark to upper board. Corners and spine ends show no wear. Ribbon marker a little frayed. Bold design in red and white diamond pattern to the endpapers. Delightful chapter heading illustrations and others as full page drawings by Jiri Trnka. Top edge is stained acid yellow. Illustrated dust jacket with edge wear top and bottom , also a little to the spine panel. Rubbing to the spine but does not affect titles. Flaps with a touch of browning but unclipped. Many of the jacket's faults are minimized when book is in Brodart cover. Book is very good plus; jacket good plus/ very good minus. Loosely laid in slip in Czech which roughly translated reads as follows: He made the bond. If the buyer discovers a binding technical defect in the book, he has the right to exchange the book in any bookstore, regardless of the place where the book was purchased. When exchanging, it is necessary to present the control coupon. Jan Werich as a Czech actor and playwright known for his fairy tales, some of which have been made into films. They are suitable for adults and children with their linguistically smart humour and unpredictability. Very hard to find in this edition. The dust jacket will be protected with a new inert archival Brodart sleeve which is removable. Please contact us if you would like any more information or additional images.
