Cloth-backed color pictorial boards. Small quarto. Cover design by Frances Brundage. Original dust jacket with same design as cover. Unpaginated. Tipped-in color frontispiece (also by Brundage) and numerous black & white illustrations throughout the text. Presumed first edition with 1933 date on title page. A collection of 6 children's stories. They are: The Little Red Hen, Little Black Sambo, The Three Bears, Puss in Boots, Rumpelstiltzkin and The Three Spinners. This books was controversial for its inclusion of "Sambo" as a fairy tale and raised objections from Langston Hughes and others. A very good, bright copy with some light marking to the top and bottom of the rear cover. The text is very good with some light foxing. The endsheets are browned from the jacket flaps. The scarce jacket is very good with some light chipping and edgewear and some soiling to the spine. A lovely looking copy of this uncommon book. Seller Inventory # 9114
