BOOK DESCRIPTION: 12 mo, xii (13)-291 pgs, frontis with tissue guard, Brown cloth with gilt decoration on cover, gilt title on spine. CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Corners worn, lower spine lightly chipped, else shelf rubbed. Interior pages have darkened gutter stain consistently through the book, not impacting text; lesser so in the upper gutter, but still present. Else tight in original binding. Preliminary with previous owners pencilled name, title page with small, inked name stamp. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: The author, Colonel Harry Gilmor, here tells his colorful life as a Confederate Cavalry officer. He led the 2nd Maryland Cavalry Battalion (CSA) during the war. What a war he had. An early Confederate narrative published soon after the war, the author told a wild tale to promote the gallant efforts by the gallant Southerners as they attempted to destroy the Union. Probably never letting the truth get in the way of good tale, he nevertheless was a man with the bark on and fought a long, hard war. REFERENCES: Dornbusch II, 523; Howes G-187.
