Spine with gilt-ruled and gilt-bordered bands in six compartments. Gilt lettered brown morocco label in second compartment; gilt-lettered direct in fifth compartment. Boards blind-ruled into panels with decorative blind-tooled fleurons at corners. The First edition of Euripides printed in England, edited by the celebrated Cambridge scholar Joshua Barnes, who produced many notable editions of Greek texts (including important editions of Homer and Anacreon).
