Cadell, in the strand - London DATE/EDITION: 1789, First edition, no added printings indicated BINDING: Hardbound in full leather with raised hubs on the spine and gold lettering on a red title block on the spine, 303 pages DUST JACKET: No dust jacket, probably as issued BOOK CONDITION: Bump to top spine end but end is intact and strong. Some light rubbing and scuffs at corners and spine ends but overall the covers are very good, clean and the lettering is bright. the binding is tight and the interior of the book is very clean also. There is a name written at the top of the inside front cover. A page by page inspection of the book found all page present with no rips or damage. Some current faint pencil notations were noted in margins and have been removed. There is the slightest bit of spotted foxing to end papers but the interior is otherwise remarkably clean. DESCRIPTION: Contains the various methods of forging, boring, and dressing gun barrels, practiced in France, Spain and England, and the different proofs of barrels employed in those countries; With remarks - an investigation of the causes of recoil and of bursting, with proposals for preventing or remedying them. An inquiry into the effects of length, bore, and charge, upon the range, etc. of the piece, and remarks upon the articles of powder, shot, wadding, etc. Further instruction on art of shooting, training pointers, description of game, etc. Seller Inventory # 001764
