Current novel is considered one of the most masterful writer s works. Here is evident a strong influence of psychological realism. The novel depicts life of servant girl named Epp, who patiently enrures all the humiliations and resigned to the fate. She believed that this was the way it had to be and did not try to get rid of it. The main idea of the novel is that a harsh social situation in the country is peoples own responsibility. First of all each man should change himself. Author s works show how closely he was connected with his state and people. Mait Metsanurk (1879-1957) was an Estonian writer who is considered one of the most outstanding representatives of Estonian neo-realism of the interwar period. He reached his literary breakthrough with realistic portrayal of Estonian town and country living at the time. In particular, the social contradictions and tensions were used in his work. Metsanurk became one of the most prolific and popular writer and playwright of his era. Ado Vabbe's (1892-1961) was the most radical innovator in Estonian art at the beginning of 20th century. Abstract Expressionism dominated in his creation. Improvisational, intuitive essential is also indicated in his cubo-fururist works.
