Published in six monthly parts/instalments between April and September 1870, price one shilling except No. VI which is eighteen pence. Colour advertisement for Eau de Vie, pure pale brandy 18/- per gallon at rear of No. I and cork hats advertisement included in No. II. Some wear to the six blue/green pictorial wrappers but generally they are in good to very good condition and are enclosed in a firm cream linen folder. Each part has two engraved plates by S L Fildes, and both a portrait of Dickens and vignette on title page in part VI; tissue guard between the two plates in part V. Numerous advertisements for the Edwin Drood Advertiser in each part with further advertisements at rear; Chapman and Hall advertisement on page 8 part V. The six original parts are encased in an attractive slip case with green cloth boards and leather spine and corners (see photograph), and a stamp on the case 'A Tribute to Genius, 1812 to 1912'.
