1899 (date on cover and title page), small 4to, 267 x 203 mm, 10½ x 7¾ inches, cloth backed pale blue boards, title page uncoloured on upper cover, lower board plain. Coloured illustration to title page and 19 pages of jolly coloured illustrations (unsigned) for 9 stories about naughty children, Dutch text. 2 are from Struwwelpeter: De Geschiedenis van Hans-Kijk-in-de-Lucht (Johnny Head-in-Air) and De Geschiedenis van den vliegenden Robert (Flying Robert). Recased with new endpapers, strengthening to some inner margins, board corners slightly worn, covers lightly stained at edges with a little light soiling and spotting. Margins slightly thumbed and faintly soiled, small crease to 2 page corners, inner margin of title page slightly grazed with slight loss to illustration, another graze (20 x 10 mm, 1" x ½") to lower edge affecting background only (see images), slight graze to margin of last page just affecting edge of illustration, background only, some scratches made by child to 'lugen Frans' not spoiling illustration. A good plus copy. See Baumgartner 2,I,100, same edition with illustration. The first Dutch edition of Struwwelpeter omitted the 2 stories included in our book.
