G. P. Putnam's Sons, New York, New York, U.S.A., 1966. First (1st) Printing (no others stated) of "First American Edition" (stated). Near Fine in Very Good Dust Jacket. The Text Block is clean, white, tight, straight and square with deckled fore-edges and no markings of any kind. The Binding is full light brown cloth with gilt design to front board, gilt title, etc., to spine, unmarked, scarlet endpapers, some sunning at edges, and corners square but showing wear. The Dust Jacket is of uniform color, intact with edge wear and a few tears closed from behind with archival (pH neutrail) materials, faded printing to spine, and price-clipped. See photos. 256 pages. 6" x 8 5/8". The author's first and best known work, this is a spy/espionage novel set in London and Berlin during the Cold War where the lead character is a double agent given an impossible assignment.
