Gilt borders. Gilt decorated raised bands on spine. Title in gilt upon a red leather label in 2nd compartment; author and Vol. # in gilt in 3rd; blind-stamped decorations in all others. Marbled fore-edges and end-papers. Black & white in-text illustrations and author portraits throughout. Square, tight and remarkably clean throughout with just a touch of page edge-toning. Minor rubbing to spine ends, hinges and tips. Neat gift inscription on front end-paper dated 1867. A gorgeous, well-preserved collectable set.
