Two Volumes, Large 4to., xix(1)812, xv(1)816pp. Beautiful undated later edition, though published no later than the Xmas, 1867 gift inscription, Bound in three quarter black leather over green pebble-cloth covered boards. Gilt borders. Gilt decorated raised bands on spine. Title in gilt upon a red leather label in 2nd compartment; author and Vol. # in gilt in 3rd; blind-stamped decorations in all others. Marbled fore-edges and end-papers. Black & white in-text illustrations and author portraits throughout. Square, tight and remarkably clean throughout with just a touch of page edge-toning. Minor rubbing to spine ends, hinges and tips. Neat gift inscription on front end-paper dated 1867. A gorgeous, well-preserved collectable set.
