Two volumes bound in full leather. 1st edition, dated 1827. Beautifully bound by J. Ferguson of Glasgow (stamp inside), gilt and blind decoration, five raised bands and two leather labels on the spines. All edges marbled; patterned endpapers with heraldic crest bookplates of previous owner and label of bookseller (W&R Holmes of Glasgow). Another previous owner's name inside, otherwise unmarked. The leather has a few marks and scuffs but the bindings are very sound. Very scarce first edition. Seller Inventory # 004871
