About this Item
First edition magazine, sewn-bound in burgundy half-leather over marbled boards, with gilt lettering on spine, is in G+ condition, having a slight bow to front cover, and some surface and edge wear to covers and spine; front endpaper gutters are quite good, but former bookseller has written an old price in ink on first free endpaper at top right corner; some slight foxing and soiling to endpapers, and back fixed endpaper has some minor bubbling; contents are quite tight. There is a printed note-paper form (stained with some tobacco leaf) set in the first endpaper section that reads: "Stewart Edward White is at present absent from the city and out of reach of mails. He will return about_________, when your communication will be answered." We are presuming this volume of the Cornhill belonged to this American writer. This is a 19th Century bound volume of six issues of the magazine. Most of the articles (fiction and otherwise) in the magazine are presented without author credit, but research has indicated some of the authors include George Meredith ("Harry Richmond"), Charles Reade, F. T. Palgrave, and Philip Bourke Marston. (For complete contents listing, see our three photographs). Illustrated in b&w plates by George du Maurier and others. Periodical. Fiction and non-fiction. Due to the book's weight, extra shipping cost may apply. DB. Seller Inventory # 613
