Incredibly SCARCE First Edition of this work, with very few institutional holdings of the true 1785 first edition. The Most Complete Early English Treatise on the Bankrupt Laws William Cooke (author) was the son of a jeweller who became a recognized authority on the law of bankruptcy. He served in numerous official positions and was appointed a King's Counsel in recognition of his achievements. Bridgman's Short View of Legal Bibliography (1807) says this is the most complete early English treatise on the bankrupt laws. A popular title, its final edition, the eighth, was published in 1823.
