First UK Edition in First Issue dustwrapper. Publisher's blue boards with silver spine lettering. The book has bright and clean boards and is in near fine condition. Light pushing at the spine ends. Some toning with spotting to the text-block. Light offsetting to the blank end-papers. Free from inscriptions. The dustwrapper is VG indeed with rubbing, light creasing and minor wear to the extremities and with a triangular chip (1 x 2 cm) at the bottom right-hand corner of the spine. Looks nicer than it sounds. The basis for the 1954 Academy award-winning movie "Three Coins in the Fountain" directed by Jean Negulesco. The novel is set in Rome with "its high noon of elegance and indolence and sinuous charm [that] lend a worldly lure to the life of the American abroad - this time in civil service offices and news agencies .and once again the eternal city provides its pleasures of the flesh as well as some more lasting concerns (Kirkus Reviews).
