Yellow printed wrappers, small 4to, 84 pp, 3 plates of which 2 are folding including a plate illustrating Johnson's manuscript corrections to his Dictionary. 934 lots. Among the highlights noted were the following: An interesting collection of Incunables, principally from Italian Presses, including the Rare Hieronymus, Vita Di Sancti Padri, 1499; and others with early woodcuts; Savonarola Tracts; Etc. French and Italian Literature, from the XVI to the XIX Centuries in sound old bindings, including Some French XVIII century Series in Old Morocco; A Fine Copy of Redoute's Roses, 1817-24;handsomely bound sets of Engraved Views, Portraits, Etc.; Early Chronicles; Voyages and Travels; A Fine Series of Works on English County History, Topography and Antiquities; and Sheets of the First Edition of Johnson's Dictionary, with notes and corrections in the hand of the Author. This last item, now in the Beinecke Library, contained "inserted opposite the words to which they apply . about 1,630 slips containing illustrative passages mostly copied by Johnson's amanuenses, but a few wholly or partly in his own hand.
