In the introduction the author writes humorously about the novelty of owning a car, how crowds gather when the driver is forced to pull over and yell "Get a horse!", and that the days are gone when the motorist need not conceal his identity at hotels and restaurants to avoid being over-charged. He also mentions the disease of "Tinkeritis" which afflicts auto owners- the insatiable desire to peer under the hood and examine the inner workings of the automobile. There are chapters on engine-care; clutch troubles; vaporizing and carburetor troubles; lamps; a list of dos and dont's for owners; and a selection of humorous maxims for drivers, such as "So near and yet- chauffeur!". There is a trip record section at the end and some early automotive ads. A good copy with some light soiling to the covers and some corner creasing. The text is very good with light wear. Scarce.
