Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Fair condition full leather hardcover, with very elaborate golt cover design. Cover has beveled edges. This is a prime example of a book that needs to be recovered. All internal pages clean/bright and no foxing apparent, but the leather cover is aged and dried out with strong wear to corners/edges and spine with the leather cover over the spine starting to chip and break away. First Edition. viii, 462 pp. Half brown calf over brown boards with elaborate gilt England crest and decorations to boards, and raised bands, gilt-stamped devices and lettering to spine; all edges gilt. Slight rubbing to boards, wear to joints and spine. Bookplate of Albert Hodsoll Heath to front pastedown. Foxing to prelims and very occasional spots within, but generally internally clean. Colour printed throughout on a hand press by Edmund Evans: 81 illustrations printed in up to 10 colours, an extraordinary amount of work, and one that Evans himself was justifiedly proud of.
