About this Item
FIRST EDITION, LIMITED to only 100 copies printed, hand numbered. 8vo, in the original ivory paper-covered boards, the upper cover with printed tipped-on label 10ff, unpaginated. A very good copy, internally fine. The white paper boards with some mild darkening, a little wear at the corners, the paper split and a bit chipped at the spine panel. ONE OF ONLY ONE-HUNDRED COPIES PRINTED. The printing was done in May of 1913 at the Marion Press on very fine handmade paper which remains fresh and bright. The essay was printed from Warner's original manuscript, with the sanction of his widow. It is believed that it was never published prior to this printing of 1913. Warner was an extremely influential writer and a close friend of Mark Twain. It is interesting to read Twain's assessment of one of England's most popular authors. Seller Inventory # 31414
