First UK Edition, first printing (first impression) Pp. 338. A true first printing with "First Published 1949" to the copyright page and no statement of reprint. It is not the Book Society edition. Original blue boards, with some uneven light fade in places, Small ink mark to bottom of front board. . Internally, name to front end page, a scattering of spotting to the edge of the text block. The first state jacket which is not price clipped ( 9s6d net ) has wear and chipping to the corners, top and bottom of the spine, A solid example. Seller Inventory # 014497
