The final novel American mystery and science fiction author, Harry Stephen Keeler (1890-1967), would publish with Dutton, who had published his previous 36 books. The mystery, being a prime example of one of his later bizarre and winding works, would be in part to blame for his declining readership and subsequent dropping by the publisher. It is also quite uncommon in the striking jacket. Way Out series #3. 8vo, 270pp. Gray cloth boards, lettered and illustrated in green, illustrated jacket. Very good, boards slightly bowed, spine cocked and showing a touch of fading. Former owner's (blank) bookplate attached to ffep over an old price mark, which is visible on the verso. Jacket bright but with some soiling and rubbing, mainly to extremities. A very good example. Seller Inventory # 5637
