Clean bright black buckram boards, undamaged save for a 2cm circular water mark at rear, lettered in gilt to spine with gilt library numbers at base. This plain black binding would have been provided by the library. Internally Liverpool Library bookplate to front pastedown with 'withdrawn' stamp. Finger soiling to lower front edge of half-title, less so to title page (library stamp on reverse side), also affecting first page of preface. Intermittent soiling affecting approx. 10% of pages.
