Add to basketFirst impression of the true first edition, published in 1961. With line illustrations throughout by Diana Stanley, including front and rear endpapers and pastedowns, and a full-colour frontispiece. ***Very good in turquoise cloth-covered boards with burgundy titles and illustration to spine and front board. The boards are nice and clean. Top and tail of spine slightly creased. Three corners slightly bumped. Some light marks to the page block edges. Internally, the book is in very good condition, with no foxing. No inscriptions. Spine tight. ***In a very good colour illustrated dustwrapper, that has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of 12s 6d net. Although the dustwrapper is complete, there is a lot of wear and creasing to the head of the spine and top of front panel of the dustwrapper. The edges of the dustwrapper are rubbed and creased with just very slight loss and nicks. Rear panel of dustwrapper somewhat discoloured and rubbed, with a light ring-stain. Front panel of dustwrapper bright. The spine of the dustwrapper is just very slightly faded. 204mm x144mm. 154 pages. ***'In their search for security what a comforting thing it was for the Borrowers to find a home which surpassed their dreams in Mr Pott's charming model village! They spent a gloriously happy summer in this paradise where almost everything about them was just the right size. But by the time autumn arrived a rivalry between the Potts and the Platers threatened the Borrowers' hard-earned comfort. The final instalment of the Borrowers' saga is probably the most dramatic of the four. It is full of surprises, excitements --- and laughter too.' (Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper). ***A first impression of the true first edition, quite hard to find now in the original dustwrapper. The fourth volume in the series of four Borrowers books which have become children's classics. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.
