*** BOOK in very good clean and tight condition. Maroon boards with gilt title on spine. Joints have been re-glued. Stamp of Society of St John the Evangelist, Oxford on front pastedown, and previous owner on ffep with date Nov 13, 1933. 431 pages including index, 32 b&w illustrations and a map (all present). The author was a Xhosa and this is a study of a way of life that has all but disappeared. The Lovedale Press which is associated with Fort Hare, (Transkei, Eastern Cape, RSA) was started in 1824 by the Glasgow Mission Society with the express purpose of giving quality tertiary education to Africans of both sexes.
