This VG- quality format #2 book (as per Mattson & Davis's bibliography--7-1/2" tall, more binding colors than yellow [red, gray, tan, brown, blue-green], and the entire front is covered with pictorial applique in colors) was published by New York Book in 1915. It is square, very clean, with no corner bumps or edge dings but the lower front corner has slight fraying; the head and heel of the spine are bumped, with small tears and fraying at the heel. Bottom edges have only a very slight amount of wear. The spine is clean and not faded; both gutters are intact and not damaged. The front panel applique is clean, nearly intact but with a fairly large corner chip (see photo). Except for an penciled inscription on the FFEP and a Salvation Army address ink stamped on both the front paste down and the FFEP, the interior is free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and paper damage of any type. The frontis is intact. The paper is somewhat toned and not fragile, reasonably flexible. The hinges are intact and quite strong. The book lists the first eight titles in this series.
