Quarto. 27pp., 6 plates, incl. frontispiece. Original illustrated string-bound stiff wraps with black lettering on cover, protected by modern mylar. Frontispiece. Illustrated title page. Decorative initial. Issued in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary Celebration, the publication features a condensed history of the New York Wood Carvers Association, founded in 1863. The title page contains a brief address to the members as well as descriptions of the title page and frontispiece illustrations, followed by the detailed entertainment program of the event. The program offers music by Wagner, Suppe, C. Heins, E. R. Ball, Remick and others featuring the musical comedian Billy Huehn, the pantomime A. Claessens, the tenor Fred. Masurek, the comedian Chas. Neil, the violinist Arnold Gleisberg and Alma Webster-Powell, soprano, suffragette, philanthropist and writer. Officers and committee members listed on the verso. Illustrated with five plates of twelve samples of wood carving done by members of the association. An expose on the Plassmann Association, an organization of wood carvers at rear. The name was chosen in honor of the wood carver Ernst Plassmann and founded in 1884. Page 27 features a congratulatory letter from Paul Dupont, President of the sister organization of wood carvers in Berlin and Socialist member of the City Council of Berlin. The inside back cover contains and announcement of the Workman's Educational Association, New York, an organization founded in the interest of the International Labor movement. Contains list of association officers and members of the various anniversary committees. Two unrelated magazine clippings laid in with some offsetting on page nine. Wraps with wear, front cover detached but present with small chips, some creasing and rubbed. Back cover with light ink staining and rubbed. Frontispiece and plates rubbed along edges.
