Listed on the back of the rear cover as number 7 of 10 entries in I Libri Munari, it was actually the last of the series initially produced. Munari (1907-1998), a graphic designer for Mondadori at the time, designed the books for his 5-year old son. Encouraging children to touch was a revolutionary concept in Italy in the 1940 s but was just a point of departure for Munari, whose career-long engagement with notions of play and creativity fueled an output intended to stimulate the user -child or adult to participate in the act of creation or cognition Light bumping and chipping to extremities.
