FORGOTTEN MEMOIR BY CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER’S DIRK BENEDICT IS A SECONDHAND BESTSELLER
(Victoria, BC – 24 January 2007) Secondhand copies of a long forgotten memoir by Celebrity Big Brother contestant Dirk Benedict are suddenly in demand.
Originally published in 1987, his little-known book, Confessions of a Kamikaze Cowboy, has shot from nowhere to No. 3 on last week’s bestseller list at AbeBooks.co.uk – an online marketplace that specializes in secondhand, rare and out-of-print books.
In the book, the former A-Team and Battlestar Galactica actor claims he overcame cancer without surgery through a macrobiotic diet, exercise and fasting. Benedict was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1974 and doctors recommended surgery.
Benedict, who stared as Templeton 'The Faceman' Peck in The A-Team and as Starbuck in Battlestar Galactica, penned the book during his 1980s heyday when he was one of the most recognizable actors on television.
Many copies of Confessions of a Kamikaze Cowboy are being offered for sale by secondhand bookshops in the USA but they can be found easily on AbeBooks.co.uk which has a global database of used and rare books.
“This book has been gathering dust in secondhand bookshops for the past 20 years,” said Richard Davies, spokesperson for AbeBooks.co.uk. “However, Dirk is now very much in the public eye thanks to Big Brother and people want to know more about his life and his experiences in beating cancer.”
Macrobiotic diets involve consuming natural unprocessed food. The book, which also details his acting career, was reprinted in 1991 and 2005.
