Hardcover. Condition: Good. H. Mann's First Corrected Edition. Full brown leather with gilt lines and red leather title label to spine, quite worn but with good joints, chipped at the spine ends, corners exposed, 7 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches. Printed bookseller's ticket inside front (see below), lacks one front and one back free end paper (blanks); top corner torn away from the ffep. The text is counted and complete: [i]-viii, [13]-277, [1]; [1]-213, [1]; [1]-72, including indices. Text has stains, some dark; a couple of top corner tips torn away. Text block is tight. The printed American bookseller's ticket reads, "John Brewer, Bookseller & Bookbinder, No. 3, Market-Square, Providence." Words only, no music.The Hymns and Spiritual Songs has its own title page and page numbers, same imprint. Page 12 of the Hymns misnumbered as page 14; several following pages misnumbered, with the text continuous and complete. The page sequence is 11, 14, 13, 14, 17, 16, 17, 20, 19, 22, 23, 22, 23, 24 and then continuing in regular sequence. This misnumbered as been cited as the first state of this edition.
