Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Las Vegas casino association copy. Not price clipped; original $5.95 price showing, "Published in 1970 by the Viking Press," with no mention of later printings. There is a small stain to foot of spine, and a larger (3/8ths inch deep by 2-1/2 inch long) dampstain to heel of DJ spine. DJ spine also somewhat sun-faded. This was the personal copy of Las Vegas casino baron Sam Boyd (died 1993), inscribed with his distinctive ownership signature (capital "S" resembles a dollar sign) in blue ballpoint to the FFE. Acquired at the estate sale of Mr. Boyd's late bodyguard, along with suits of clothes with sewn-in label "Custom Tailored for Sam Boyd," etc. When Mr. Boyd's bodyguard became ill, Sam gave the man his modest early house in downtown Las Vegas. A few signed books, along with the vintage suits and jackets, and an interesting deer-antler chandelier, remained in the house; we purchased at a carport sale in April, 2009. Note this book is NOT signed by the author Graham Greene, no matter what any confused computer may indicate. Book bears the interesting previous owner's signature of Sam Boyd (founder of Las Vegas casinos the California, the Union Plaza, and Sam's Club, and purchaser in 1983 of the Stardust and the Fremont), only. 244 pp. Reduced from $29.
