Softcover. Condition: Good. 8vo (22 x 14 cm), original pink wrappers with printed title on paper label at spine; with a large printed folding table, a folding engraved plate "Tableau synoptique du genre citrus", pp. xviii, 363, (1 blank); a very fine, fresh and untrimmed copy, still with deckled edges; a presentation copy by the author, with his manuscript note: "Pour Mr. Hippolite Durazzo de la part de l'Auteur". First edition, very rare, of Gallesio's treatise on the Citrus family. Giorgio Gallesio (1772-1839) was an Italian botanist and researcher specializing in citrus fruits. Here he presented his findings that hybrids are the offspring of outcross pollination and not due to grafting as previously thought. He also studied the family barriers affecting species compatibility and gave a good account of the history and distribution of citrus and was widely quoted in many works of his day and also in The Citrus Industry book, by Webber, Batchelor and others.

Prima edizione. Bell'esemplare.
