Baran zusammen verfasste Buch Monopolkapital. 1949 gründete er zusammen mit Leo Huberman die Zeitschrift Monthly Review, eine sozialistische Zeitschrift, deren Gründung mitten in die Phase der McCarthy-Hysterie fiel. .
