Firmly bound green cloth boards with fading at the top and base of the spine, some minor brown spotting marks on the cover, foxing mostly on the first and last few pages and on the closed page edges. Jacket in poor condition with rubbing and creases and up to over an inch of loss from the top of the spine.

Green cloth, lettered in dark brown to spine, in the Brian Cook wraparound dustjacket from painting of a panoramic view over a valley. 250pp. With colour plate frontispiece, plus 113 b&w photos in plates. Authors include H.E. Bates on 'The Hedge Chequerwork,' Massingham on 'The Downs', and Adrian Bell on 'Fens and Levels.' Introduction by Massingham. Nice copy of an attractive book, evocative of a partly lost countryside. Very Good in Very Good jacket, now in clear removable sleeve. Square and well-bound, the covers with a little browning rto edges; page mostly clean, with occasional light foxing and yellowing, the closed edges heavily foxed. Jacket front and back are fine and bright, light browning to spine and light rubbing to edges; price-clipped.
