Nicholas Blake was the pseudonym of Cecil Day Lewis, the Anglo-Irish poet who wrote many mystery novels under this name, many of which feature the fictional detective Nigel Strangeways. This particular novel was one of the four stand-alone novels he wrote outside of the Nigel Strangeways series. A Tangled Web follows the intensely devoted love of a young burgar with his innocent lover, who's situation changes when a brutal murder of a police officer takes place. The themes of betrayal and tragedy and coherent with Blake's writing style. With a bright and eye-catching original Dust Wrapper by Kenneth Farnhill. In original publishers black cloth binding with original unclipped Dust Wrapper. Externally very smart, with minor shelf wear only. Light damp staining to the boards. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. The odd mark to endpapers, with light spotting to the rear. Dust Wrapper in good condition.
