Trade Paperback. Condition: Very Good. 2nd Edition. 1st printing of the 2nd edition of the author's first book published in July 2003, 12 months after the 1st hardcover edition and 15 years prior to the special edition. This copy is SIGNED by Chiang on the title page with a black ballpoint pen, and he added the year, 2024. LAID-IN is event ephemera, including a 4-page, 4-colour program promoting Chiang's participation in the reading series. A trade paperback with card covers. No markings by a previous owner or retailer, and the spine is not creased. There is typical shelf wear to the surface of the covers, but they are otherwise unaffected by age or the sun. The covers have curled at the fore-edges from handling. The corners of the covers have softened, and three of the four corners show the beginnings of separation between the cover and the paper backing. The top and bottom corners of the first three dozen pages of the text have softened and curled, and the top corner of 5-6 pages spread throughout the text were creased. The collection includes "Story of Your Life", which served as the basis of the screenplay for the movie Arrival and a story published for the first time here: "Liking What You See: A Documentary." Chiang is one of the most highly-decorated writers of SF of our time. Canadian buyer will be charged GST. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Signed and numbered limited edition, 1 of 300. One of Sub Press's typically gorgeous volumes, and their first die-cut dust jacket! Lovely illustrated pages separate each story. No price clippings, no remainder marks, of course. The book is in an archival bag as opposed to the traditional Brodart cover, because the jacket, being oddly shaped, won't really fit in a Brodart easily; however, once ordered, if you want it Brodarted, happy to accommodate. Contains "The Story of Your Life," basis for that most extraordinary SF film 'Arrival.' When you receive this book you'll beam up, beam down, and shake it all around with sheer delight!. Signed by Author(s).
