Assessment of irrigation water quality. References. The book Soil Resource Inventory and Management of Problematic Soils cover almost all the significant aspects in six different chapters. One of the primary objectives of this book is to provide comprehensive information on methods of land evaluation and problem soils. This book has been prepared based on undergraduate course of Soil Science Syllabi of Agricultural Universities of India. It covers different types and methods of soil resource inventory classification based on soil taxonomy and land evaluation methods for scientific land use planning. An attempt has been made to include remote sensing for inventorying mapping of soils and its applications in agriculture. The chapter 5 defines the characteristics of physical and chemical oriented soil problem and remedial measures to regain the quality of soil back to its original or normal productivity form. The concentration and composition of dissolved constituents in a water determine its quality for irrigation purpose. The last chapter 6 forms an important supplement to evaluate the quality of irrigation water for agriculture based on various criteria. This textbook will be useful not only to the undergraduate students but also to the Scientists of Agricultural Universities. 184 pp.

The topics and contents have been presented to make it easy understanding for the scientific community. It serves as a guide to assess the suitability of different land units for arable crops, grazing or forestry. It is mainly based on Inherent soil properties, External land features and Environmental factors that limit land use (climate vegetative). There is bound to be conflict over land use. The demands for arable land, grazing, forestry, wildlife, tourism and urban development are greater than the land resources available. In the developing countries, these demands become more pressing every year. It is necessary to prepare an inventory of this resource so that, optimum land use and conservation plans can be developed. Such plans will be useful while preparing National policies and its execution. It also useful at other levels viz., state, town, farm, watershed development, Agricultural Research Station, Research laboratories etc., this book exclusively very much helpful for soil scientists and its relevant field level workers.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 244 pp. Englisch.
