Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. The First Printing of the First UK Hardcover edition. Published in London by Collins in 1986. Signed by the author at the title page. The seventh title in the enduringly popular series concerning Richard Shape's exploits in the Napoleonic Wars. In green cloth with gilt titles to the backstrip. What otherwise might have been fairly described as a VG copy - spine tips pushed, corners slightly swollen and the lower cover or board is starting to bow - is downgraded due to the text-block which is most unattractively tanned, rather than merely toned. This is entirely due to the inferior paper stock used by the publisher at the time and is a common fault with several titles in this series. The protected dustjacket is not price-clipped and is in VG shape with minor creasing but no nicks or tears to the edges. A bit of a mixed bag, then, but carries the all-important author-signature which elevates it somewhat! Signed by Author(s).
