As Program Co-chairs, we are very happy with the outcome of this year's ESAS workshop. It clearly demonstrates the continued importance, popularity andtimeliness oftheworkshop'stopic: securityandprivacy inadhocandsensor networks.Atotalof51fullpapersweresubmitted.Eachsubmissionwasreviewed by at least three expert referees. After a short period of intense discussions and deliberations, the Program Committee selected 17 papers for presentation and subsequent publication in the workshop proceedings. This corresponds to an acceptance rate of 33% - a respectable rate by any measure. First and foremost, we thank the authors of ALL submitted papers. Your con dence in this venue is much appreciated. We hope that you will continue patronizing ESAS as authors and attendees. We are also very grateful to our colleagues in the research community who served on the ESAS Program C- mittee. This year, a total of 44 full papers were submitted to ESAS. Each subm- ted paper was reviewed by at least three expert referees. This c- responds to an acceptance rate of 32% - a respectable rate by any measure. In addition to the presented papers, this year's workshop also featured two keynote speeches and seven project presentations. In the rst keynote, Jean-Pierre Hubaux (EPFL) gave an overview of 'Security and Cooperation in WirelessNetworks'.ThesecondkeynotewasgivenbyPimTuyls(Philips)onthe interesting topic of 'Grey-Box Cryptography: Physical Unclonable Functions'. The project presentations covered the following European Projects: S3MS, SeVeCom, BIONETS, CASCADAS, MOBIUS, EYES and UbiSecSens. Unf- tunately, the extended abstracts of these presentations could not be included in the proceedings. As the Chairs of ESAS 2006, we are very happy with the outcome of the workshop that clearly demonstrates the continued importance, popularity, and timeliness of the topic: Security and Privacy in Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks.

The wo- nd rd shop took place in Cambridge, UK, on the 2 and 3 of July 2007. The workshop was European in name and location but it was de nitely transatlantic in scope. We had a program chair from Europe and one from the USA, and membership of our program committee was almost evenly split - tween those two regions. When looking at participation, the workshop was even more global than that: the submitted papers came from 25 countries in 6 con- nents. We received 87 submissions. After quick-rejecting 5 papers deemed to be out of scope, the remaining 82 papers were each reviewed by at least three PC members. The two program chairs, who did not submit any works, had sole authoritytodecidewhichpaperstoacceptandreject,basedonlyonthedirective that quality had to be the primary criterion, in order to form a proceedings volume of high international relevance. The number of papers to be accepted was not set in advance: it was selected a posteriori so as to include only solid, innovative and insightful papers. The resulting acceptance rate of about 20%, very strict for a workshop, is a testimonial of how selective we chose to be in accepting only high quality papers.
