Soft cover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. This is a UK paperback first printing of this title which is SIGNED, INSCRIBED & DATED BY ARTHUR C. CLARKE TO A FAN WHO ATTENDED A SCIENCE FESTIVAL IN 1992 HELD AT MINEHEAD, SOMERSET WHERE THE AUTHOR WAS BORN. The photos show the book's condition better than I can describe. The front cover is nice and bright and not faded. The rear cover is off-white due to age and there is a feint name at the top right side by the author's name - a minor irritant in my opinion as a collector. The pages are heavily toned due to age and poor quality paper. The spine has a slight lean and the bottom of the spine has 2 centimetres missing as you can see. The binding in nice and tight with no loose pages and the copyright page confirms the first Corgi paperback printing in 1954, preceded by the Sidgwick & Jackson hardcover and two hardcover reprints. Signed by Author(s).
