Front board title: "Robinson's Mathematical Series. The Rudiments of Written Arithmetic for Graded Schools." (abbreviated from official title upon title page). i-vi, 7-200 pages. Hardcover: H 17.25cm x L 11.5cm. Original quarter binding (black pebbled faux leather spine with paper over cardstock boards); spine ends worn with slender 2cm loss at head of front joint, abrasion and surface loss to faux leather (in essence some thin veneer polished cloth imitating a leather appearance) along the overlaps to boards; both boards' surface paper heavily rubbed with peeling and abrasion causing loss to lettering and/or decoration, wear along edges particularly at corners, moisture stain near top of front board. Toning to text block edges with original marbling heavily faded. Some foxing and toning throughout; strong crease to bottom corner of front flyleaf; pages 15-40 have chipping and/or creasing at bottom fore-edge corners. Binding is firm. Scarce contemporary (late 19th century) bookseller ink stamp "Harvy & Roby | Kosciusko, Miss." near center of front free endpaper. Harvy & Roby was a Kosciusko, Mississippi drug store and bookshop (and undoubtedly retailing other items too) operating from the late 1800s to its dissolution in 1902. A good copy.
