    Rebound in leather. Condition: Very good. First edition. The first British publication of the American Declaration of Independence. Includes early maps of the American colonies (of the "Seat of War"). On pages 28 and 29 is possibly the first publication in book form of the American Declaration of Independence. Also, beginning on page 240 is the Articles of Confederation. Very good condition.

FIRST EDITION, CONTAINING THE FIRST ENGLISH PRINTING OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, part III with engraved frontispiece portrait of Benjamin Franklin (usually bound in vol. 5, "for the year 1777") and 2 engraved maps. All three volumes in original bindings. Rare thus. Housed in a custom-made collectors slipcase. The 17 volumes of The Remembrancer, published by John Almon and his successor J. Debrett from 1775 to 1784, is "one of the chief and. most reliable sources of information regarding the revolution. It is a veritable mine of information, containing every authentic paper relative to the American Revolution, whether published in England or America, by the British Ministry or the American Congress, and is even today the original authority from which much of our information is obtained. The collection has a sympathetic leaning towards the cause of the colonists, or at least against the course pursued by the ministry"--Church 1115.
